The Painting is a story of a young woman coming to terms with the death of her estranged father. She receives his painting and photographs in the post. As she looks through them she discovers who he really was, and what she meant to him. Without sounding too pretentious, I wanted this film to be a thoughtful story (designed to linger in the mind of the viewer, causing them to make up their own thoughts on what occurred). It deals with themes of memories, generational differences (contrasting a life at home with a life outdoors), self-discovery and closure.

A wonderfully portrayed, sensitive, thoughtful film.    Geoffrey Sleight - Independent Filmmaker

Well done. that was gripping and original. Excellent use of sound, the aesthetic was unapologetic and just got on with telling the story, which I thought was interesting and relevant.
